Annual MVP Weekend. The annual Felix Jones, II “Running Back to Make a Difference” MVP Weekend™ is the Foundation’s largest program and fundraiser. In its inaugural year, the MVP Weekend was held May 7-9, 2008 and was attended by over 500 hundred people including the following NFL players: Mark Anderson of the Chicago Bears, Beau Bell of the Cleveland Browns, Chris Chamberlain of the St. Louis Rams, Quentin Chaney of the St. Louis Rams, George Hegamin of the Dallas Cowboys, Bradie James of the Dallas Cowboys, Phil Loadholt of the Minnesota Vikings, and R. W. McQuarters of the New York Giants. The MVP weekend featured a Welcome Reception hosted by City of Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor, a 100% free football and life skills camp for high school students 14-18 (the camp featured a staff faculty that included over a dozen current or former NFL athletes and NBA, NFL, and NCAA Life Skills consultant Guy Troupe of Troup21 & Associates (www.troupe21.com), and a one-of-kind “Blue Tie” Gala held at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame and which was hosted by acclaimed comedian Rodney Perry. At the Blue-Tie Gala, the foundation honored some of Tulsa’s greatest community servants (MVPs) communities and held a live autction of authentic sports membrallia that rasied thousands for the City of Tulsa’s Mentoring to the Max Program.
